Best Period to Travel

The climate in the Maldives is mostly stable and it is always warm. The dry period is from late November to April which means this is the peak period for travel with sunny and dry days which is ideal for all outdoor activities and excursions.

From May to mid-November there is rain due to the influence of monsoon winds, however, these spells of heavy showers are not too long and happen mostly at night and the sun shines the following day. Therefore, you can enjoy the stay reasonably well even during these months.

Be aware that hotel rates are higher during the peak season (dry season), whereas during the wet season the rates drop, and you pay much less and still enjoy many of the activities. So, the Maldives can be visited throughout the year, and it is up to you to decide which part of the year you will do it.

Duration of Stay and the Best Hotels/Resorts

Duration of stay – How many days of stay on these paradisical islands is entirely your decision based on the reason for travel. If it is a tropical getaway at least a 5 to 7 nights stay will provide enough time to savour the attractions and be attuned to spending time doing nothing (in terms of work) yet working hard (trying to fit in leisure, exploration, and togetherness as appropriate).

Selecting the best resort – This can be a daunting task with so many of them available. Broadly there are two main types of hotels.

Private Island Resorts – Offers a stay of luxury with your needs and wants attended to with courteousness and professionalism, such as at the well-appointed Maldives pool villas and other types of Villas, Residences, and rooms across the Maldives. Most resorts offer stays with appropriate meal plans.

Stay on a local island – These can be guest houses and budget hotels, whilst beach activities can be enjoyed at public beaches.

Formalities to enter the Maldives

  • Visa-free Tourist Stay is valid for 30 days

Getting about in the Maldives

With a cluster of 1192 islands, getting about the Maldives from one island to the other is only possible by seaplane, domestic flight, or the popular speedboat. Usually, speedboat transfers are not offered for very long distances, it is best to use a flight or seaplane. All visitors arriving in the Maldives must use one of these options if they are booked at a resort island.

It is also important to know that some resorts arrange the transfer for their valued guests directly, not using third-party services such as those done by Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives. It is best to discuss these factors at the time of reservation.

If you plan to do island hopping during your holiday, this can be done by speedboat if it is within the same atoll, whereas doing so between atolls may require a seaplane transfer. Seaplane transfers are scenic and offer a breathtaking view of the archipelago, however, they come at a cost.
